City of Norwich Groundhog Meet 2014
Well done to all swimmers who competed at the Groundhog meet last weekend (8th/9th February). With lots of excellent swims, big PB's, Regional and National Qualification it proved to be a successful meet. The meet provided many of the Junior Squad swimmers a first opportunity racing long-course (50m pool), a valuable experience.

His Country Calls!
Aliasger, a MV (Year 10) Swimming Scholar and full time boarder has recently been selected to represent Tanzania at the Central and North African (CANA) games to be held in Uganda in April.
This is testament to both the training that Ali has put in since his arrival at Saint Felix in October 2012 and to our elite training programme. Ali’s 100m freestyle time has dropped a massive 13 seconds since he has been training under the guidance of Sue Purchase our Director of Swimming.

ESSA Relays
On Saturday 25th January Saint Felix School hosted a swimming gala for local primary schools on behalf of the English Schools Swimming Association (ESSA). Swimmers in Years 5 and 6 raced against the clock and we are extremely hopeful that their excellent times will secure for them a place at the National Final at Ponds Forge in Sheffield this June. The school is delighted to offer congratulations to the following swimmers for their strong performances.
Saint Felix A Team: Katy Chambers, Georgia Pleasants, Owen Webster and Benjamin Newman
Saint Felix B Team: Joshua Stephens, Samuel Stephens, Lara Wise, Liana Moore and Elodie Whyte.
Further details of the qualification for the National Final will be released later this term in early March

WInter Warmer Meet 21st/22nd December + 5th January 2014

TeamLuton Open Meet 16/17th November 2013
A large squad of swimmers from Elite and Junior Squads
headed to Luton for their annual Long Course open meet.
With many LC personal bests, National, Regional and
County qualifing times it proved to be a successful open
meet and a excellent experience.

ESSA Primary Schools Relay Championships 2014
Saint Felix School are happy to confirm that they are
to play hosts of the Suffolk and Norfolk Primary School
Swimming Relay Championships scheduled for the
25th January 2014.
Primary and Prep schools from the local area will be battling
it out to secure a place at the coveted National Final held at
Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield in the summer term.
Details of this competition can be found under the East Region tab on the English Schools Swimming Association website (http://www.essa-schoolswimming.com) or directly from Laura O'Connell (LOConnell@stfelix.co.uk).
The team selected to represent Saint Felix School will be announced shortly.

TeamIpswich Autumn Open Meet
This weekend 25 of our Elite and Junior squad swimmers headed for Ipswich for their Autumn Open meet. With November already upon us, swimmers training was transferring into some fast racing and improved race skills.

Open Morning - Saturday 7th December 2013
We are hosting an Open Session for local children to be assessed for the next intake of swimmers into the club Squad Structure (within Junior & Development Squad).
This is aimed at children between the age of 7 years and 12 years. Children who would like to join a competitive swimming group or who are already a member of a Club, but would like to try something a little different. The taster session (30 to 45 minutes) will be based on our Development Squad and Junior Squad sessions and be taken by our qualified coaches.

Beccles Kingfishers: Stars of the Future Meet 5/10/13
On Saturday afternoon 19 Development Squad and young Junior Squad swimmers headed to Bungay for Beccles Kingfishers ‘Stars of the Future Meet’.
One month in to training this year, all the swimmers were ready to show off the skills they had been developing in training. The dives were already much safer and faster than last week at the Iceni Meet. The oldest swimmers competing were 12 years old, so it gave our young swimmers an ideal opportunity to gain gala and racing experience.

Iceni Meet Dereham - 28th and 28th September
28 St Felix School Squad swimmers headed for Dereham for the season opener at the Iceni Meet 2013, including many swimmers who had never raced away from Southwold. This meet gave them an ideal opportunity to gain some early County qualifying times and good racing experiences.
The large squad of swimmers demonstrates the strength and depth of the programme, with only four members of Elite Squad racing; the majority coming from Junior and Development Squads.

St Felix School Swimming Club is proud to announce that for the third year running it has been successfully re-accredited as a swim21 club.
Achieving swim21 accreditation enables clubs to help swimmers reach their full potential. swim21 is a planning tool, based upon the needs of swimmers, which strives to provide them with the best possible training environment. It provides protection for children, quality coaching and top training for swimmers.
swim21 club accreditation also bestows recognition from Sport England that the club is safe, effective and child friendly. All junior clubs gaining swim21 accreditation automatically receive Sport England’s Clubmark status.

St Felix Swimmers enjoyed success at the National Youth & Open Water Championships
A squad of six girls and one boy travelled to Sheffield for the British Gas ASA National Youth & Open Water Championships.
The first event was the Open Water Championships at Rother Valley Country Park, where Thomas Every had qualified for his first National event after winning the East Region title in early July at Whittlingham Lakes, Norwich. The swim was a 2km lake swim in 22 degrees, which for Open Water proved to be a pleasant experience. After a very physical and demanding swim Thomas finished a very creditable 15th place, less than a minute behind the winner.

teamipswich Pentathlon Sprint Meet
teamipswich Swimming club held their Pentathlon Sprint meet last weekend, where all swimmers swam 50m of each stroke and 100m IM. Points were given in each event dependant on position and age-group.
With some big PB's, many St Felix swimmers finished top-3 in their age-group winning cash prizes or top-6 winning medals.

St Felix School Swimming Club Shine at the Suffolk Swimming County Championships
A squad of 31 swimmers have travelled to UEA, Norwich and Crown Pools, Ipswich to compete in the British Gas ASA Suffolk Championships during February and March. At Norwich, Suffolk joined with Norfolk swimmers and competed in the 800 & 1500m events with the 15 swimmers returning to Southwold with 4 Gold, 4 Silver and 1 Bronze medal and 11 Regional Age and Youth Qualifying Times.
