About us

The swimming club is based at St Felix School. St Felix School is located on the outskirts of Southwold, a coastal town in Suffolk. It is a thriving independent co-educational day and boarding school catering for nursery age children, all the way through to pupils finishing Sixth Form.

For more information on the school’s curriculum or facilities please click here.

St Felix School Swimming Club was formed in 2004 to enable growth and performance of the school swimmers who were gaining recognition within school and county swimming.

The school contacted British Swimming and with their help a nationally credited swimming coach was employed this was Sue Purchase as Director of Swimming. In 2007, the school employed Laura O'Connell as Head Age Group Coach to work alongside the Director of Swimming.

With their guidance the club has grown from 12 to over 80 swimmers from the school, local area and abroad to form a competitive squad system. These squads compete at International, National, Regional and County level. Swimming scholarships are available at the school, these range dependent on achievement, visit the contact us page for more information. Swimmers feed into our squad system via new school pupils within their weekly 40minute school swimming lessons and an ever increasing learn-to-swim programme.

Our learn-to-swim programme offers swimming lessons to all ages. We offer weekly parent and toddler classes, non-swimmer, beginner and improver classes. All taught in competitive class sizes by ASA (Amateur Swimming Association) level 2 teachers. These 30minute lessons develop children through water based activities in a fun and enjoyable environment acquiring the skills of a competent, confident swimmer.

The aim of the swimming club is to develop swimming at all levels, we currently offer sessions for toddlers all the way through to masters swimming; with our squad section aiming to create a centre of excellence at the school.
